We value our
customers, and we are proud of our exemplary customer service. Several
years ago,
we had some concerns with potential customers who did a
Google search on
"Big Sam Moving" and found a totally
false and libelous report filed on
our company on RipoffReport.com. We contacted the site's owner, and attempted to have the
false report removed, but all our efforts were in vain. The owner of the
site
Ed Magedson,
apparently has ties to
a bogus "law firm", who pays him a piece of the
action when the bogus law firm's clients pay the "lawyers" exorbitant
fees to have the false report removed from
his Web site. This was written up in May of 2006 by Dave, our
Webmaster, on
one of the Web sites he personally owns, and he made the first
prima facie'
allegation of collusion between RipOffReport.com and RipoffReportRemoval.com.
RipoffReport.com (aka: BadBusinessBureau.com)
is an Internet
extortion scam, and
the owner of
the Web site (which was shut down in the USA by
Federal court order, and is currently hosted
overseas) is being sought by Federal
authorities on RICO
(Racketeering
-
Influenced
Corrupt
Organization) charges
filed against him in a Florida Federal District Court. There is also a
Class Action lawsuit pending against him.
The following information provides you with an overwhelming
preponderance of evidence that RipoffReport.com is itself, a rip-off. |

A Brief Statement by the
owners of Big Sam Moving, Inc.
For the past several years, we have been haunted by a libelous report filed
against us by who we formerly believed to be a temporary employee who never
actually worked for us – he was fired the first day he showed up for work for
being high on drugs, and assaulting one of our employees. The report was filed
by someone calling himself “Alex” – and up until now, we believed that we knew
who it was; but now, in light of what has transpired recently with
investigations into RipoffReport, we are not so certain. The allegations in the
complaint are ludicrous prima facie’,
and even a casual reading of this so-called “complaint” uncovers some glaring
inconsistencies – especially in light of the fact that there are absolutely NO
complaints against Big Sam Moving with the Better Business Bureau, which is
surely a more popular and more reputable forum for consumer advocacy than
RipoffReport!
We normally would not even respond to such ludicrous allegations. However, we
have no way of knowing how many customers were dissuaded from doing business
with us because of this high-profile report, and the fact that as long as the
RipoffReport site exists, we cannot have this report removed – unless we submit
to the extortion the wanted criminal who runs the site demands (or stoop to
Mafia
tactics and hire a wiseguy
to find him and break his legs) – we decided to
“put it out on Front Street”
as-it-were, and let intelligent customers decide who to believe. Links to the
report, our rebuttal, the response from RipoffReport, and numerous other links
from other companies who have been unjustly victimized by this unmediated,
libelous forum are posted on this page. The list is long, but it is by no means
exhaustive – we have barely scratched the surface of listing the crimes
committed “under color of consumer advocate” this man, Ed Magedson has
committed.
This report first came to our attention on
May 4, 2006 as we were rebuilding our Web
site, when we did a Google search on the company name to see if it would show up
in the search engine listing. The company’s Web site was indexed, along with
another entry that said “Ripoff Report –
Big Sam Moving – Unscrupulous Company”.
When I clicked the link, I came to the RipoffReport.com page – and was shocked!
I couldn’t believe what I was reading! The man we fired a few weeks prior could
hardly speak a word of English – and yet he managed somehow, to write – or have
someone else
write this libelous, insane nonsense. He was apparently posing as “Alex” in
order to keep us from identifying him – or so we previously thought. In light of
the facts, we may have simply ascribed to our dismissed “almost – employee” the
blame for what the staff of RipoffReport themselves wrote. Unfortunately, there
is no way to prove who
wrote the report – and certainly, Mr. Magedson isn’t likely to tender his
confession without a few water-boarding sessions. Perhaps if he spent a few days
under the gentle psychiatric care at
Gitmo, he’d spill the beans on himself.
In a case dated January 18, 2006,
before Charles R. Norgle, District Judge,
the facts in evidence – the result of a preliminary investigation presented to
the court said:
“….RipoffReport.com posted more than 110 “complaints” from consumers.
Investigation proved that only 11 of these postings were actually from
customers. The balance of 99 reports was made-up by members of RipOff Report
staff”.
And so, in point-of-fact, we really do not know
who wrote this
report – our disgruntled “almost – employee”, or the RipOffReport staff
themselves. And so Mr. Magedson may have invented “The Perfect Internet Scam”
as-it were, taking advantage of US Constitutional protections, and when that
failed to convince a Federal Court judge – flight from the jurisdiction of US
law.
We have a message for Mr. Ed Magedson – it’s in the form of an old, obscure
Yiddish proverb:
“If
one man calls you ‘an
ass’, you can disregard him; but if three men
call you ‘an ass’, perhaps it’s time to think about buying a saddle”.
Certainly, more than “three men”
have called Mr. Ed Magedson ‘an ass’ – and much worse! I believe the astute
reader here will, after following the links on this page, agree that the First
Amendment to the US Constitution does not hold a person harmless at law, when he
uses that God-given right to extort money from hard-working, honest Americans.
It is inevitable; there is nothing left but the apprehension, trial, and
conviction of
Ed Magedson. Because his Web sites are now hosted outside of US
jurisdiction, it remains to be seen whether or not they can be shut down
permanently - and even if they were, the electronic traces of this criminal's
escapades are likely never to be completely purged from Cyberspace.
Ed Magedson has fled the USA, and is 'on the lam'. The millions
he had (should we say "allegedly"?) extorted from his victims will provide him
with one consolation after the judge's gavel falls - at least he will not want
for coffee and honey buns from the prison commissary. |
